Miter Folding
This is a fabrication method that is similar to Oragami. We machine flat laminated panels in unique patterns that are then folded and assembled into a variety of functional shapes.
Process:
-
Starts as a flat laminated panel.
-
Panel is machined on the underside with strategically placed V-grooves that stop short of penetrating the panel face.
-
The Origami-like panel is then folded, glued, and assembled.
-
Although miter-folding has no minimum quantity, there are programming costs that save money if quantities are larger.
-
Finishes have the same requirements as other processes where films are concerned.
-
Each project must consume a minimum roll of non-standard finishes. (Approx. 250 LY)
